Coming up...

I have an interest for mass media topics since JC. Largely attributed to Mr Tong for teaching me the workings of mass media. Moreover, it was the first topic he exposed us to and soon became my pet topic for GP. So this sem.. naturally i took this module, the sociology of Mass media and culture.

It's only week 0 and the lecturer of this module posted quite a lengthy mail regarding this mod..

READ THE FOLLOWING BEFORE YOU ENROL IN THIS MODULE.
THE COURSE IS NOT SUITABLE FOR THE FOLLOWING PERSONS:

1. If you are looking for HANDOUTS/NOTES, do not take this module. There are NO handouts in class, there are no power-point lecture notes for you to download, nothing for you to copy! Anyone taking this module has to listen and make your own notes. You may have to learn speed-dictation as lectures may be delivered at rapid fire.

2. If you are looking for "hip" aspects of mass media -- American Idol, Reality TV, talk shows, MTV, etc. -- you will be disappointed because this course DOES NOT cover these topics, which are likely to be found in the Popular Culture module. This course is mostly about news and politics.

3. If you are fishing for an EASY module, this is not it. The course syllabus changes every year, there is a new textbook, past year exam questions are no guide to the present, tutorials are demanding. Are you sure you want to go through all these ?

There are 6 pointers in total but these alone are already so intimidating. The actual mail is much longer than this. And around 20-30 websites are provided for us to read. Mixed emotions really overflow me at this time for on one hand, it seems so worrying, yet on the other hand, i'm anticipating the content that i'm going to learn, in addition of those that i already know.

baaa.. let's get over this. yuching told me before: Studying is for the joy of learning.

I haven't successfully get all my modules yet. All the kiasu singaporeans are performing the art of kiasu-ism that LAST MIN, i couldn't get the module i want. What we deduce is.. it skyrocketed during close bidding, like from 200 to 400 points. It is crazy..


Today helped dear to clean up his new RVR room! Haha, we did it in less than 2 hours! Soon, i will be shifting back to uncle's place and i will start missing my room, my food and my family :D

Next week is sis's birthday. Most likely having birthday celebration this weekend :D Me and dear shared a super nice cute jumper-like one-piece, which she likes very much when i went shopping with her few days ago.

My thought of having coloured hair perished, when both mum and dear stand on the same side, objecting me to dye my hair! Mummy says will spoil my hair cos i should treasure my very-charcoal-like black hair becos after i dye, the new hair won't be the VERY BLACK black. While dear he says it makes me look wild, ah lian and not nice. Humph >.<

"When can i dye my hair then?" I asked sweetly(HAHA), expecting answers like after graduation..
"... when ur white hair starts growing, and you will dye black" he replied.

Faints!

but luckily he's joking.. HAHA. Phew :D
